    • Timing matters

Flooded habitat in late summer is most valuable for shorebirds between mid-July and the end of September. Applications with multiple fields and extensive acreage should have staggered start dates to increase the duration of habitat on the landscape.
    • Please indicate whether you are interested in a 3-week or 4-week flooding contract period.
    • The dates below represent Wednesday start dates for the flooding period of this program. Please select ALL of the dates that you would be willing to start flooding your fields.
    • Include all of the costs associated with the management of this habitat. Please include Mosquito Abatement Costs in case you receive treatment from MVCD.
    • List the Field Name and the respective acres for EACH field included within this bid.
    • If you are applying with more than one field in the same bid, are you willing to accept an enrollment option that does not include all of the fields?
    • If your application has more than one field would you be willing to stagger start dates between the fields to extend the duration of habitat on the landscape?
    • When were these fields first flooded this year? Please list each field and the flood date.
    • Did these fields have a rice crop in 2026 or were they fallow?
    • Please indicate the types of straw and/or vegetation management that were applied to the acres you are submitting. Select all that apply.
    • Check all that apply
    • I have reviewed the updated Practice Requirements. I understand that straw and vegetation management is required for this program.
    • I understand the airport exclusion areas.
    • I understand that, as part of my habitat contract, my contact information and flooding location & timing will be shared with my local Mosquito Vector Control District.
    • I represent and warrant that the acres included in this bid are not enrolled in any State, Federal, Non-profit, or other programs that contract for flooding during the same time period (including mitigation or easements). The Foundation will coordinate with organizations currently providing incentives for habitat flooding to ensure there is no direct overlap in the programs.
